While treating the area we ensure that the area where waterproofing system need to be install shall made free from all other activities that could disrupt the installation of the system. We also inspect and ensure that the substrates are free of cracks, improper gapand damage to surface integrity. We carry out all the necessary rectification and preparatory works before the installation of the specified waterproofing system. The methodology, which we commonly followed for doing expansion joint job are as under:
Cleaning and removing of loosely adhering particles with wire brush/blower/ high pressure water jet wash and made free from any other contaminants (if any).
Preparation of joint if there is any improper gap, damages, cracks etc. with non-shrink ready to use fiber repair mortar.
Grouting operation also shall be recommended at a distance @ 1.0 to 1.5 Mtr C/c with NSGC or Epoxy strengthening grout along the both side of expansion joint for better results.
Choice of expansion joint waterproofing systems is depends on various aspects such as requirement of site, gap, applicability of products, flexible to movement, durability and combination of layers etc. because there are numerous options is available like EPDM/PVC/ TPE Membrane, Hypalon Tape, Polysulphide and Polyurethane Sealant etc.
Installed expansion joint systems shall be further cover with expansion and contraction design plate of make stainless steel with buffing, aluminum with powder coating/anodizing and MS etc. Thickness and size of plate is depending on expansion joint gap and strength.
